The Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner is now available at Pure Health™. This revolutionary tool enables us, for the first time, to measure our level of carotenoid antioxidant protection in a matter of minutes.

How does it work?
Sir C. V. Raman discovered the technology on which the scanner is based in the 1920’s. Sir Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the Raman Spectroscopy in 1930. Raman’s discovery proved that there are certain molecules, like carotenoids, that can be excited with a certain wavelength of laser light. The molecules then begin to resonate in very particular ways, releasing a very specific light signal of an altered wavelength that then can be measured. This discovery was revolutionary at the time, but computer and laser technologies could not fully apply it until recently. In just the last ten years, researchers at a major university, led by Dr. Werner Gellerman, actually started putting all these pieces of technology together.
The scanner technology is a tremendous scientific breakthrough. By simply placing the palm of your hand in front of a safe, low-energy blue light laser, you obtain an immediate reading of your carotenoid antioxidant level—your skin carotenoid score.

Body Composition Analysis

How does it work?
Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) is based on the fact that lean muscle tissue contains high levels of water and electrolytes, and therefore acts as a conductor of an electrical signal. Fat mass is comparatively anhydrous and acts as a resistor to the flow of an electrical signal. Increasing levels of fat mass result in a higher impedance value, and correspond to higher levels of body fat. When a person is being measured, a safe electrical signal (50Khz, 800μA) is sent through the body via pressure-contact footpads on a scale platform and the hand grip. The body's % body fat, Fat Free Mass, Visceral Fat and other measurements are then calculated based on the impedance of the electrical currents. The level of impedance is measured in Ohms and can be defined as the strength and speed of an electrical signal traveling through the body.
Lifestyle & Wellness Evaluation
Achieving optimum health requires a delicate balance of having the proper diet, exercise, and stress management habits. Although this is a subjective measurement, it helps to serve as an educational and empowering tool to adopt a long term healthy set of daily habits. The lifestyle evaluation also gives us a valuable insight into the current health and wellness level of the individual and allows us an objective basis to recommend lifestyle changes.
How does it work?
Our trained consultants will run through a weighted average questionnaire which seeks to determine adequate levels on nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management habits. The results are tabulated using a weighted average formula to produce a wellness chart which is then discussed with the client.
